Miss Mia is official!

You may remember the Collins family from an earlier post. Mia came to them the beginning of January, and as of April 13, she is officially a member of the family! Her older brother and sisters wanted to throw a big bash to celebrate. It was such a sweet time of gathering with family and friends to celebrate God’s blessing on this family. I love watching them all interact – they are such a precious family. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this special occasion in the life of your family!

Wow…I’m getting old. I realize that I’m not old. But you know there are those times when you feel like life is just moving so fast – and you realize that it only seems to move faster. Ash was one of my dearest friends in college. Back to Freshman year. Before we knew who our husbands were going to be…before we knew where we would live, or what we would do with our lives. But we knew we wanted one thing – a family. And lots of prayers, and tears, and late-night talks, and ice cream, and counseling sessions with dear older and wiser friends later – God has blessed us both with amazing husbands, and now Ashley and Andrew are preparing to welcome baby Abigail Grace. Abby will be here in just a couple of weeks. This post is just a few weeks late – the first pictures are from her shower, the second set from her maternity pics in Charleston. I love Charleston. But I won’t go into that right now – enough words for one post. 
Congrats, Ashley and Andrew! The two of you are going to be such amazing parents, and I can’t WAIT to meet sweet little Abby!

so I did quite a miserable job of getting posed shots during the shower – not one shot of ashley with us hostesses, not a shot of all the family, but I did get this one of Ashley and Dorothy, and, admittedly, probably wouldn’t have gotten it if it hadn’t been requested. now on to the maternity pictures – it was a little chilly – and VERY windy, and we got started late because we spent too much time sipping coffee in our pj’s – just like old times. but ashley and andrew are an amazing couple, and so happy and in love with each other and their baby girl, and happy couples make fabulous pictures no matter what the circumstances.

meet the collins family. i knew suzanne and her kids, mabry, emma, and jake when i taught at new covenant. kevin (dad, not featured in this particular session), suzanne, and kids added little mia to their family at the beginning of this year. mia is adopted, but it is so evident that god designed this little one to fit right into their sweet family. i enjoyed every minute of my time with their family! you’ll be seeing more of them, as they’ve agreed to let me experiment on them with a new type of photography that I will be offering – lifestyle family photography. while i LOVE the sweet white-dress-in-the-garden-leaning-on-a-wrought-iron-gate portraits, and i will definitely have them of my children, i think that everyday life is just as beautiful. for children to be able to look back and see what their childhood was like, to capture the innocence and beauty of your life, just as it is. more details on this to follow soon.
